Kansas Speaker O’Neal
asks House GOP to pray for Obama’s death
Kansas House Speaker Mike O’Neal is under fire after asking
Republican House members to pray for President Barack Obama’s
death. O’Neal made the request via an email he forwarded to GOP
colleagues in the House. In an email sent in December, O’Neal
asked his fellow Republicans to pray Psalm 109, which contains
the following lines:
Let his days be few; and let another take his office.
Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.
The email has become the subject of a mini-media frenzy.
Numerous
major
news outlets began reporting the details surrounding the
disturbing prayer request on Friday.
The relevant verse from Psalm 109 is considered a prayer for
vengeance, a prayer for the death of a leader. The most
damning part of the prayer is lines 7-12:
'When he shall be judged, let him be condemned: and let
his prayer become sin. Let his days be few; and let
another take his office. Let his children be
fatherless, and his wife a widow. Let his children be
continually vagabonds, and beg: let them seek their
bread also out of their desolate places. Let the
extortioner catch all that he hath; and let the
strangers spoil his labor. Let there be none to
extend mercy unto him: neither let there be any to favor
his fatherless children.'
Think Progress reports that O’Neal forwarded the prayer
with his own message:
“At last — I can honestly voice a Biblical prayer for
our president! Look it up — it is word for word! Let us
all bow our heads and pray. Brothers and Sisters, can I
get an AMEN? AMEN!!!!!!”
News of the email is a sad commentary on Republican politics
in Kansas. In addition, the email prayer request indicates
an astonishing disregard and disrespect for the office of
the presidency. For a government official to pray for the
death of President Obama, and encourage other government
officials to do the same, is not only morally reprehensible,
it is also treason.
VETERANS TOWN HALL MEETING
HOSTED BY: SAN FRANCISCO VA MEDICAL CENTER MINORITY VETERANS
PROGRAM CORDINATOR EDDIE RAMIREZ @
415-740-4399 OPEN TO VETERANS & NON-VETERANS
College of San Mateo giving Vets a refuge...
Some 300 veterans, reservists
and dependents of veterans attend the College of San Mateo. For
many, the transition from military to academic life can be
rough.
But
next month, the Peninsula community college will open a new
Veterans Resource and Opportunity Center, where veterans will
have access to services such as help applying for benefits.
Veterans will also be able to study, relax and socialize in the
center, which is decorated with a framed U.S. flag that was
flown during combat in Iraq.
The center is equipped with a
television, computers and a “Zen room,” where student veterans
can take a break from the stress of college life.
Veterans centers are increasingly a feature at community
colleges, as more and more veterans of the wars in Iraq and
Afghanistan take advantage of the Post-9/11 GI Bill, which helps
pay for tuition. Cañada College in Redwood City opened its
veterans center this past March.
CSM
invited students and the public to an opening ceremony Feb. 15,
at 11 a.m. in the Office of Student Life, Building 17. The new
center is in Building 16.
Don't put it off! Everyone, and I mean everyone whether you are
18 or 80, has to have a health care directive completed and
filed with your HMO or primary physician to insure that your
wishes are adhered to in the event you become incapacitated.
To that extent, we have made available forms on this site
for Veterans Administration and the State of California. Those
out side the State of California can find forms for their state
by doing a search on the internet. These forms are fillable on
your computer using the latest Adobe®
Reader.
We've posted a list of the "35 Top Employers for Military,"

The membership is advised that a vote will be taken at the 16
February 2012 meeting to increase the Post Yearly Dues from
$30.00 to $35.00. Post By-Laws require that the membership be
notified of said vote by the Adjutant at the regular meeting
prior to the vote and be published in the newsletter and on the
website after said notification has been made. The increase in
dues is necessitated by an increase in National Per Capita Tax.
All members “In Good Standing” may vote on this issue. The
measure requires a simple majority of those present and voting
to pass.”
